Shifting Atmospheres Through Prophetic Intercession

Prophetic Intercession is getting quiet in the presence of God, listening to what He says, and then acting on His words.

Prophetic intercession is a shift into asking God what His heart is on a matter, and then praying what He tells you. Essentially it is praying with God, and not to God.

Prophetic Intercession is a powerful form of prayer communicated as a prophetic word or act. It commands that something to be done rather than a petitioning prayer where we ask for something to be done. It is as if prophetic intercession ignites the invisible realm and spurs it into motion.

God gave Joshua a clear promise in Joshua 10:8 that he would be victorious over the Amorites.

“Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”

God was declaring to Joshua what He was going to do.

At daybreak, Joshua and his army took the Amorites by surprise. The Lord helped him by raining hailstones on the Amorites as they tried to run away. Joshua knew he would win the battle because of God’s promise, but he needed more daylight to fully defeat the Amorites. The sun was going down, so Joshua made this declaration before the people of Israel in the presence of the Lord.

“Sun, stand still, over Gibson, and you, moon, over the valley of Aijalon.”

God honored these words as if they were His own. The sun stood still for almost a full day as Joshua defeated the Amorites. This story illustrates what prophetic Intercession looks like. Joshua spoke to the sun, but he was prophetically declaring his desires before the Lord.

Here is what qualifies this to be honored in heaven and loosed on earth. Jesus said in John 15:7 “if u remain in me and my words remain in u, ask whatever u wish, and it will be done for u.”

When we abide in Jesus and His word we can intercede from our hearts. If we stay connected to Jesus through the Holy Spirit and let His words and promises stay with us then all we have to do is ask because all His promises are yes and Amen.

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

When we abide in Jesus and His word we can prophesy out of our heart knowing it will reflect His heart and will be done by our heavenly Father.

He is the word and everything came into existence because He spoke it out. He said many times in Genesis 1 “let there be….” and there was. Kenneth Copeland says in his book The Power of the Tongue

“Gods words produce exactly what He says…
once He speaks, His words will come to pass.”

In Colossians 1:17 we are told His word holds everything in the universe together and All creation responds to His word. The Bible says in Psalm 107:20 “He sent out His word and healed them.”

His word is living and creates new life in us. When we say what God says, there is power in those words to bring life for

“He is… the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” (Romans 4:17)

As we open our mouths to declare God’s word, He breathes on these words with His divine power. Once you declare what God has given you, your declarations set in motion the power, event, circumstances and situations that will materialize what you spoke.

Isaiah 55:11 it says “so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

As we understand the power of the spoken word to create, we will better understand the power of prophetic intercession and the atmosphere shifts it causes. When we declare scripture and the truths God is speaking to us about, it causes a shift in the atmosphere as heaven collides with earth.

Next week I will be talking about prophetic acts as a way to shift atmospheres.
