Three Powerful Joshua Bible Verses

Today, let’s look through three powerful Joshua Bible verses. As we go through these passages, lean into the Lord’s wisdom and allow His Word to inspire you.

The Lord promises us rest

One of my favorite Joshua Bible quotes is 11:23, which says: “So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.” 

I love the phrase: rest from war. It’s so easy to feel discouraged when healings don’t happen or a family member gets sick. But just like the Israelites, remember: once the battle is over, God gives us rest.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the enemy’s attacks, declare: “Lord, thank You for leading me through this battle. I trust You to guide me into rest. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”

The Lord rewards faithfulness

Another of my cherished Joshua Bible quotes revolves around Caleb, one of the original spies who trusted in God. Caleb never wavered in his faith, even after decades of waiting. At 85 years old, he was still ready to claim the inheritance God had promised decades earlier. Let’s look over this passage:

Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “… here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day…”

Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance. So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly. (Joshua 14:6-15)

The Bible makes it clear why Caleb was rewarded: he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly. Isn’t that fun? Even after years of waiting, Caleb received his promise.

Let’s declare: “Thank you, Lord, that all your promises are yes and amen! Lord, thank You for promising breakthrough to me. I stand in faith and partner with You to bring these words to pass. I declare this in Jesus’ Name, amen.”

God’s promises come through

We live in an instant culture. If God gives us a word, we expect it to be fulfilled right away. But time doesn’t end with us. There’s a master plan. Regardless of when your word is fulfilled, stay faithful. It will happen. Consider this impactful Joshua Bible verse:

“So the Lord gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”

The final sentence “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled” is so encouraging! If you’re waiting on a word from God, declare: “Thank You, Lord, for every promise You have spoken over me. I bless Your wisdom and ask that these come to pass in Your timing. I pray this all in Jesus’ Name, amen.”
